In-house emergency response services or first aid?

In-house emergency response services or first aid?

The Working Conditions Act requires the provision of tailor-made services. The results of your Risk Inventory and Evaluation clarify how many first-aid workers and in-house emergency response team members your company needs/requires.
In many cases, it is merely a question of mastering the ‘life-saving’ section of the BHV (in-house emergency response services) training course. But sometimes more first-aid skills are needed, in which case it may be useful to attend a first-aid course, possibly with the addition of bandaging, minor accident and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training modules.

First-aid workers can offer help in case of respiration problems, loss of consciousness, blood circulation problems and shock. They can also treat local injuries (wounds), heat and cold injuries, intoxications, injuries caused by electricity; alarm ambulances; or refer victims to a general practitioner or emergency first-aid department.

IVM offers training and refresher courses in this respect:

  • First Aid module
  • First Aid, including bandaging, minor accidents and AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
  • First Aid to children
  • Extended in-house emergency response training (a combination of first aid and in-house emergency response services)
